Free Crochet Pattern – Doll Hat

This easy to follow crochet patterns works up quickly into a cute hat for a doll!

Materials

  • Worsted weight yarn in desired color
  • Crochet hook size H (5.0 mm)
  • Yarn needle

Gauge: 4 sc stitches = 1 inch

Instructions

Round 1: Chain 4, slip stitch to first chain to form a ring. Then, make 6 single crochet stitches into the ring. Slip stitch to the first single crochet to join. (6 sc)

Round 2: Chain 1. Make 2 single crochet stitches in each stitch around. Slip stitch to the first single crochet to join. (12 sc)

Round 3: Chain 1. Make 1 single crochet stitch in the first stitch, then 2 single crochet stitches in the next stitch. Repeat from * to * around. Slip stitch to the first single crochet to join. (18 sc)

Round 4: Chain 1. Make 1 single crochet stitch in the first two stitches, then 2 single crochet stitches in the next stitch. Repeat from * to * around. Slip stitch to the first single crochet to join. (24 sc)

Round 5: Chain 1. Make one single crochet stitch in each stitch around. Slip stitch to the first single crochet to join. (24 sc)

Round 6: Chain 1. Make 1 single crochet stitch in the first two stitches, then decrease (see instructions below) in the next stitch. Repeat from * to * around. Slip stitch to the first single crochet to join. (18 sc)

Round 7: Chain 1. Make 1 single crochet stitch in the first stitch, then decrease in the next stitch. Repeat from * to * around. Slip stitch to the first single crochet to join. (12 sc)

Round 8: Chain 1. Decrease in each stitch around. Slip stitch to the first single crochet to join. (6 sc)

Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread the tail through the remaining stitches using a yarn needle, and pull tightly to close the top of the hat. Weave in ends.

Note: To decrease, insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over, and pull up a loop. Then insert your hook into the next stitch, yarn over, and pull up a loop. You should have 3 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on your hook.
